The Importance of Doing Nothing

Hey my Beautiful Friend,
This weekend, Jason and I did something truly special...
We got in our blowup pool.
On tubes.
In the backyard.
And we did... absolutely nothing.

No emails.
No errands.
No productivity podcasts.

Just sunshine, 80's jams, silly laughs, and two grown adults floating like kids who forgot what day it was.

And let me tell you something: it felt amazing.

We live in a world that’s always pushing—
Strive!
Accomplish!
Go go go go GO!

But here’s the truth I had to learn (and maybe you need to hear it too):
Rest is not laziness.
Doing nothing is not failure.
Stillness is not weakness.

It’s medicine.
For your mind.
For your body.
For your relationships.
For your soul.

And somewhere along the line, we forgot that. We got caught in the guilt trap that says if we’re not being productive, we’re somehow falling behind. But behind what? And for what?

I want you to think back to being a kid on a hot summer day... Remember those long, lazy afternoons when you’d just lay in the grass? Or float in the pool until your fingers pruned? Or sit on a porch with your friends, music playing, just being together?

That wasn’t wasted time.
That was life.

And it still is.
So today, I’m giving you permission:
To stop.
To breathe.
To be.

Whether you spend it alone or with someone you love, I hope you find a way this week to pause the hustle and simply exist. Laugh. Lounge. Listen to the breeze. Watch the clouds drift. And reconnect—to yourself, to your people, to what really matters.

The to-do list will still be there.
But these summer days?
They won’t be.

Here’s to the radical, rebellious, and restorative act of doing nothing. You have my permission. After all, it's an essential part of living your most flavorful life!

Floating right there with you-
